Privacy Policy
What information this website handles, why, and how to ask us to forget it.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Mortmain Studio (referred to as "we", "us", "our"). For any privacy-related inquiry, contact contact@mortmain.studio.
2. What information we collect
We try to collect as little as possible. Specifically:
- Browser local storage: we store your selected language, audio volume, and similar UI preferences in your browser's local storage. This information stays in your browser and is never sent to us.
- Newsletter sign-up: if you subscribe to our newsletter, we store the email address you submit, the date of submission, and (optionally) your language preference. Nothing else.
- Server logs: our hosting provider may keep short-term access logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention. These are retained briefly and not used to identify you personally.
We do not currently run third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising trackers. If that changes, this policy will be updated and you will be informed via a clear notice on the site.
3. Why we collect it
- Local storage: to remember your preferences so you do not have to set them on every visit.
- Newsletter: to send you updates about Squalor and Mortmain Studio when meaningful news arrives. We will not write often. We will not write without reason.
- Server logs: to protect the site from abuse and diagnose technical problems.
4. Who we share it with
No one we are not obligated to share with by law. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We may use third-party services to deliver newsletter emails or host the website; those providers handle the information solely to provide the service to us.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live (notably under GDPR in the EU/EEA and similar laws elsewhere), you may have the right to:
- Ask what information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct it.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Withdraw consent for newsletter emails at any time, via the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to us directly.
To exercise any of these rights, write to contact@mortmain.studio. We will respond within a reasonable time.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
This website uses browser local storage (not traditional cookies) to remember your UI preferences. Local storage is not transmitted to us and is not used for tracking. You can clear local storage at any time via your browser settings.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, the "last revised" date below changes, and material changes are announced via newsletter or a clear notice on the site.
